FAQs

I would like a custom order? Is this possible?

Of course! If you have a bespoke list of items you would like, just get in touch with us and we can advise you how to best place your order. Just email us over at info@thepaperandink.co.uk

Are my labels waterproof?

The white labels are water and oil resistant, but please note they should not be submerged in water for long periods of time and are not dishwasher safe.

The clear and brown Kraft labels are not waterproof, but can be wiped with a damp cloth.

I'm not ready to use my labels yet. Where should I store them?

Any type of labels should always be stored in a dry and dark place. Please, note our white waterproof labels should be applied within 4 weeks of receiving them, as otherwise, whilst still on the sheet, the glue may be compromised and they may not peel properly.

Will the labels work on Kilner-type jars?

Unfortunately, Kilner-type jars tend to narrow down towards the top and the bottom of the jar, which means a square or rectangular label does not have a flat surface to stick to and will ripple at the top and at the bottom. To avoid this, please opt for a smaller size label and ensure the flat surface is big enough for the label to be applied correctly.

How should I care for my natural wooden products?

To care for wood products, it’s best to use food-safe mineral oil or walnut oil, especially for items like cutting boards, bowls, or utensils that come into contact with food. Here’s a quick guide:

1. Food-Safe Mineral Oil:

Odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic.

Helps to hydrate the wood and prevent it from cracking or drying out.

2. Walnut Oil (or other natural oils like Tung oil or beeswax blends):

A great natural option, but ensure no one using the product has nut allergies.

Provides a protective, water-resistant finish while enhancing the wood grain.

How to Apply:

Clean the surface with warm water and mild soap, then dry completely.

Apply the oil generously using a soft cloth or paper towel, working it into the wood grain.

Let it sit for 15–30 minutes, then wipe off any excess.

Repeat every few weeks or as needed, depending on use and exposure to moisture.

This simple routine will keep your acacia wood products looking beautiful and lasting longer!

It’s best to avoid using vegetable oils, such as olive oil, canola oil or sunflower oil, as they oxidise and turn rancid over time.

How are my items delivered?

Each label bundle is enclosed in a waterproof cellophane wallet and placed in a hard backed envelope for extra protection to make sure you receive it safely.

Other items, such as jars and bottles are carefully packaged in environmentally friendly materials that are responsibly sourced and recyclable.

How long until I receive my order?

Your order will be processed within 7 working days and sent by 2nd class Royal Mail service or Express Royal Mail service, if chosen at checkout.
